- 200 to 255 pounds (90-115 kg)
- 4.5 to 5.5 feet (1.4-1.7 meters) in length
- Also known as the Moon Bear due to a white crescent shaped mark upon its chest
- Exist in eastern and southern Asia
- Spends days sleeping in caves or hollow trees
- Large rounded heads and ears
- Build "basking couches" in trees from twigs and branches conserving body heat by raising themselves above the ground
- Most bipedal of all bears, can walk upright for over a quarter of a mile (400 meters/0.4 kilometers)
