  • 3 to 4 feet (0.9-1.2 meters) in length
  • Fur marked by yellow or white crescent upon their chests shaped like the rising sun
  • Smallest species of bear
  • Almost exclusively nocturnal
  • Reputation for fierceness
  • Varied diet consisting of small animals, insects, coconut palms and honey
  • Highly endangered due to logging and poaching
  • Survives in the northeastern region of India
