Volunteer Program
Vital Ground's volunteer program has two major goals: 1) to raise awareness of the grizzly bear's predicament and 2) to raise funding for projects and initiatives that help protect grizzly habitat.
With a strong volunteer base, Vital Ground can more effectively spread its message, raise needed funds, and cultivate and recruit new members, donors, volunteers, and conservation partners.
There are many ways to get involved with Vital Ground as a volunteer.
You can:
- Hand out Vital Ground literature and inform your friends about the importance of protecting habitat for grizzlies and other wide-ranging wildlife.
- Be a Vital News distributor. We'll send you 25 copies (or more if you need them!) of our biannual publication so that you can place them in strategic places in your home town, like coffee shops, libraries, and community centers.
- Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper—reach thousands of people in your community and inform them about the plight of the grizzly and the on-the-ground conservation work Vital Ground is doing to protect habitat.
- Submit first-hand grizzly bear stories or send photos from your trips into grizzly country for our publications.
- Host a house party. Invite friends, family, and colleagues to a grizzly themed party at your home. Talk to them about the bear's situation, hand out Vital Ground information, and encourage them to join, donate, or become a volunteer.
- Plan your own fundraising event in your community for Vital Ground.
However you wish to become involved, the staff of Vital Ground will help you. We'll provide you with training and any materials you need, from member forms, bumper stickers, and PowerPoint presentations, to door prizes such as DVD copies of Real Grizzly hosted by Jennifer Aniston or other merchandise from the Bear Mart.
As our volunteer program matures, we'll keep you informed of new opportunities through Vital News and our Web site.
If you're interested in becoming a volunteer, drop us a line at 406-549-8650 or info @ vitalground.org and tell us what you'd like to do.
We look forward to having you join the Vital Ground volunteer team!
