Windfall Creek II
Year: 2010
Acres: 80
Ecosystem: Northern Continental Divide (NCDE)
Location: MT - Swan Valley
Project Type: Conservation Easements (two)
At the end of 2010, Vital Ground accepted generous donations from the second- and third-generation owners of two properties on Windfall Creek. The properties sit adjacent to Flathead National Forest lands and to other private lands that were protected earlier by conservation easements.
Totaling 80 acres, the two newest Windfall Creek conservation easements encompass numerous glacial potholes, as well as mixed forest and streamside habitat along Windfall Creek, all of which provide habitat for a wide range of wildlife from deer, elk and moose to pine marten, flying squirrels, waterfowl and songbirds.
