Summary: Vital Ground’s first project. The property is adjacent to The Nature Conservancy’s Pine Butte Swamp Preserve and provides a critical riparian corridor for grizzly bears as they venture into the prairie ecosystem. Vital Ground purchased the property and donated a conservation easement to TNC. Vital Ground and TNC entered into a management agreement whereby the property was managed by TNC. In 2007, Vital Ground sold the property outright to TNC allowing the organization to reinvest the dollars in other conservation projects.
