Missoulian: Following the unanimous recommendation of the Open Lands Committee, Missoula County commissioners unanimously approved $150,000 of public open-space bond funds to purchase conservation easements numbering 276 acres in Montana’s Swan Valley, northeast of Missoula. Protection of the parcels, which border some two miles of the Flathead National Forest, assures that the land will never be developed and will be managed in a ecological way to benefit wildlife species ranging from grizzly bears and Canada lynx to waterfowl and amphibians.
