Artist Joseph S. Venus’ passion for Vital Ground runs deep. Since 1993, Montana Coffee Traders has teamed up with Vital Ground to help the Missoula-based nonprofit operate as a land trust, one that uses the best objective scientific available concerning grizzly bear biology, habitat requirements and conservation strategies. Monte Dolack Gallery
A native of Great Falls, Montana, Monte Dolack grew up surrounded by the same sweeping vistas and big sky that inspired Charlie Russell. His love of Montana and passion for the West’s diverse landscapes and wildlife are evident in the images he creates and the commissions he undertakes. Monte has been the recipient of a number of prestigious awards in the course of his career, and his work is part of the collection of the Library of Congress, the American Association of Museums, the National Wildfire Foundation and numerous other museums and corporations. Monte has graciously allowed Vital Ground to feature one of his most iconic images, The Great Bear, on their specialty Montana auto license plates. Knight Inlet guide Robert Scriba recently published Seasons of the Grizzly in Knight Inlet, a collection of his stunning and intimate bear photography and his reflections on the struggle for life of the bears, salmon and other wild creatures of the British Columbia rainforest.
