Ken Hick

Ken brings deep business and philanthropy experience in the Pacific Northwest region to Vital Ground’s board. After piloting B52s for the Air Force, Ken began a career in business consulting and education, earning an MBA and a Ph.D. in Finance and Economics from the University of Washington. He then taught business classes part-time for several MBA programs while working as a consultant hired to assist companies with business challenges. Over three decades he completed 15 successful “turn-around” assignments and bought and sold eight companies for profit. He has served on and chaired numerous boards, including Progressive Animal Rescue, the Wildcat Haven Foundation, Pacific Development Group, Cascade Investment and Management Group and the Oregon Child Development Coalition Foundation.

Ken served as an advisor to Vital Ground’s Development Committee in 2023 and led our special Big Bear Blend wine release as part of the end-of-year Bart the Bear Memorial Campaign. He and his wife, Cheri Cooley-Hick, reside in Happy Valley, Ore., with both joining the Vital Ground board as trustees in 2024.
