Kerry Gallagher

Kerry joined Vital Ground in the fall of 2025, bringing her passion for the natural environment and a professional background in the legal sector to Vital Ground’s conservation efforts. In addition to greeting visitors and supporters in person and over the phone, her role as administrative assistant includes crucial management of many operational systems that underlie Vital Ground’s fundraising and donor relations and the habitat protection they enable.

Kerry grew up in Missoula surrounded by rivers and wild places that provided an endless supply of backcountry adventures. She was later fortunate to share many of them with her daughter, imparting in them both a fierce determination to conserve both public and private lands for future generations of all types of critters. Her love of wild places, wild animals and freedom of movement for humans and wildlife alike aligns with her work at Vital Ground. In her free time, Kerry can likely be found on foot, ski or bike along one of her favorite hiking trails in the Rattlesnake Mountains. Other pastimes include reading, obsessing over maps in search of new backpacking routes and birdwatching with an emphasis on owl spotting. She is accompanied on most adventures by her blue heeler pup, a professional trail-scout and unskilled chaser of squirrels.
